This is a safe and effective treatment Podiatric Procedure that uses a light-cured resin to create and attach a durable, long-lasting, and natural-looking artificial nail. This treatment is suitable for those where the original toenail is damaged, unsightly from trauma, fungal or other conditions effecting the nails like Psoriasis.

At Pocklington Podiatry we use LCN Wilde Pedique Silver Plus, which incorporates microcrystalline silver and Piroctone Olamine, which have antifungal and antibacterial properties, further enhancing safety as well as allowing fungal infections to be treated at the same time.

How long does the toenail reconstruction last?

The nail is hard wearing and will remain in place for at least 6 - 8 weeks depending on individuals activity levels.

Is this procedure safe?

Yes. LCN products avoid the use of acidic primers that damage the natural nail plate.

Is my nail suitable for toenail reconstruction ?

Nails that appear thickened, discoloured, traumatised, fungal, or any nail deformities that may be a result of medical conditions are all suitable for this procedure.

I have had nail surgery, can I still have this procedure?

There has to be some existing nail for the the resin to adhere to the nail plate. Although, it is safe for the resin to come directly in contact with the skin, if you have had a total nail Avulsion ( removal of the whole nail ) it is unlikely that the resin will hold to the nail bed for a long period of time as the resin is unable to form a bond with the skin like it would a nail.
